FIO Block Award – GRI Year 1 Funds

In April 2010, BP pledged $500 million for scientific research to assess and monitor the health and response of the Gulf of Mexico over the ten years following the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. FIO received a block grant of $10 million in the first year. This rapid-release award was used to fund 27 projects identified from a peer-review proposal process.

In total, these projects involved 91 investigators and over 45 students and 15 post-doctoral research associates from over 30 institutions. These funds are part of the Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative (GoMRI) Year 1 funds. Here are the final reports from the 27 funded projects.
