Wade Jeffrey is the Director of the Center for Environmental Diagnostics and Bioremediation and Distinguished University Professor at the University of West Florida. He obtained his MS and PhD in Marine Science from the University of South Florida and was a Post Doctoral Fellow at the US EPA lab in Gulf Breeze, FL.
Dr. Jeffrey’s research interests focus on marine microbial ecology. In particular, he investigates the effects of ultraviolet radiation on marine microbial communities using an interdisciplinary approach combining oceanography, microbiology, molecular biology, and photobiology. His work has taken him from the Arctic Ocean to Antarctica and numerous places in between. He has served on the FIO advisory committee for over twenty years, including several terms of chair of the committee.
