K. Grant Palmer is the director of the Sensing & Domain Awareness Laboratory in SRI’s Advanced Technology & Systems Division. In this role, he develops new business opportunities, manages government and commercial client relations, and provides direction to multidisciplinary engineering teams that research, develop, and implement solutions in the multiple domains. The Laboratory is located at SRI’s St. Petersburg, Florida facility.
Palmer holds a B.S. degree in electrical engineering communications systems (summa cum laude) from Mississippi State University, and a M.S. degree in electrical engineering communications systems from Florida Institute of Technology. He also has a Black Belt-level certification in Six Sigma process definition and improvement, is a Project Management Institute-certified Project Management Professional, has Agile Project Management and Lean Manufacturing certifications, and is a National Society of Professional Engineers-registered Professional Engineer. Palmer is an honorably discharged military veteran, serving in the US Army before entering college and embarking on his professional career. His last military assignment was leading a nuclear missile system maintenance team. He is also a lifelong blue water sailor, and a licensed captain.
