Dr. Mitchell A. Roffer is founder and President of Roffer’s Ocean Fishing Forecasting Service, Inc. (ROFFS™) and an Adjunct Faculty member at the Florida Institute of Technology Department of Marine and Environment Studies. Dr. Roffer attended University of Florida, University of Maryland (B.S. zoology), Iona College, and Long Island University (CW Post campus). He received his Ph.D. from the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School for Marine and Atmospheric Sciences in Biological Oceanography with an emphasis on satellite fisheries oceanography.
ROFFS is a scientific consulting company based in West Melbourne, Florida. ROFFS, under the direction of Mitchell Roffer, has been producing daily oceanographic analyses for a variety of operational and research applications that integrate a plethora of satellite data (U.S. and European) at a variety of spatial resolutions (75 meters to 1.1 kilometers) with in-situ data for more than 27 years. Dr. Roffer has extensive experience and is best known for tactical and strategic fishing forecast analyses for the recreational and commercial fishing industries that are the result of the integration of satellite and other fisheries oceanographic data. Roffer continues to be intensively involved a broad range of projects from ship routing, oil and gas drilling operations, seismic and fish surveys, fisheries development, aquaculture, environmental monitoring, and applied scientific research.
