Lewis, Cindy

Cindy Lewis is deputy director at Keys Marine Lab and has been lead staff scientist since 2008. She received her bachelors of science at Cornell University with a major in animal science and earned her masters of science at the State University of New York at Buffalo with Dr. Mary Alice Coffroth, studying coral-algal symbiosis and coral reproduction in the Florida Keys. She is currently in a Ph.D. program at Florida International University with Dr. Mauricio Rodriguez-Lanetty studying bleaching and disease in Pillar Coral (Dendrogyra cylindrus) along the Florida Reef Tract. Before joining the staff at KML, Cindy was a marine research biologist in the lobster program for FWC Fish & Wildlife Research Institute at their South Florida Regional Lab in Marathon.
