Sydney Tritschler joined FIO in 2022 after being introduced to the institution through the completion of a 6 week intensive marine field studies course and research cruise facilitated by FIO. She graduated from USF with a bachelor of science majoring in marine biology and minoring in environmental science and policy. She is an AAUS scientific diver and has completed field work for USF in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Curaçao, researching tropical marine ecology and contributing to international databases recording coral reef ecosystem trends across the Caribbean. With previous experience living and working on sailboats in tropical environments around the world and teaching marine biology, Sydney has always been fascinated with the ocean and looks forward to dedicating her life to continuing to learn, love, and share its beauty with the science community and beyond.
