R/V Weatherbird II

The R/V Weatherbird II is the flagship of the FIO fleet, following its acquisition and renovation in February 2009. The 115-foot, 194-ton vessel has since become one of the nation’s most storied research vessels after its repeated voyages to carry out scientific missions in the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill catastrophe.

R/V W. T. Hogarth

The R/V W. T. Hogarth is the first vessel constructed specifically for the FIO fleet, with construction completed in May 2017. The 78-foot vessel has a working draft of 6’ and a maximum draft of 6’6” with a 12-knot maximum speed, she can accommodate up to 10 scientists.
