Florida RESTORE Act Centers of Excellence Program (FLRACEP)

FIO is the Gulf coast state entity responsible for administering the Florida RESTORE Act Centers of Excellence Program (FLRACEP). FLRACEP is currently supporting eleven research projects at eight Florida universities. We expect to release our next request for proposals (RFP) in autumn 2018. Please contact FLRACEP if you would like to be added to our mailing list.

Florida Coastal Seafloor Mapping Program

FIO members and partners have aggregated many of the available benthic habitat maps for the state's coastal and marine waters into a single portal. The Florida Coastal Mapping Program (FCMP) will use this as a starting point for identifying gaps in coverage, developing a multi-year plan for filling those gaps and completing a high-resolution map for all of Florida's waters at a January 9-11, 2018 workshop in St. Petersburg. Learn more from the FCMP Agenda (PDF). The FCMP steering committee has invited experts and partners from among academia, NGOs, state and federal agencies, and interested stakeholder groups to examine the state of Florida's seafloor mapping efforts and set priorities for the coming decade.

Inaugural Florida Marine Science Symposium

The inaugural event was held October 25, 2017 at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida. You can find more information on the 2017 program, speakers, and abstracts at the Florida Marine Science Symposium page, as well as the latest on the next symposium currently under development.
