Inaugural Florida Marine Science Symposium

CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR STUDENT TALKS AND POSTERS (PDF)! The Inaugural Inaugural Florida Marine Science Symposium held October 25, 2017 at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute in St. Petersburg will be the first of what will become an annual flagship event to showcase excellence in Florida's marine science from the coast to the deep sea. Florida Coastal Seafloor Mapping Program

FIO members and partners are compiling benthic habitat maps for the state's coastal waters with the aim to identify gaps in coverage and develop a multi-year plan for filling those gaps and completing a high-resolution map for all of Florida's coastal waters. The January 9-11, 2018 Florida Coastal Mapping Workshop (PDF) will bring together experts and partners to examine the state of Florida's seafloor mapping efforts and set priorities for the coming decade.

FIO Block Award – GRI Year 1 Funds

As a result of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill FIO received a block grant of $10 million in the first year. This rapid-release award was used to fund 27 projects identified from a peer-review proposal process.
