Peerside Program Manager, Florida Institute of Oceanography & University of South Florida

About Me:

I became a Program Manager for the Florida Institute of Oceanography in February of 2023. I help develop, implement, and lead the Peerside program. At the University of South Florida, my main responsibility is to create transformational changes at College of Marine Science (CMS) by recruiting underrepresented (URM) students, postdocs, and staff. In the past, I was a part of the leadership team of the University of Exemplary Mentoring (UCEM), a program funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. I catalyze an inclusive environment within CMS by providing workshops for personal development and implementing new student and postdoc organizations. I led CMS’ first NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) supplement program in the summer of 2019, and in 2023, was awarded an NSF REU site that will create an immersive ocean science REU for students with different social, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
