Biography

Quentin M. Lewis, Jr. is the marine superintendent responsible for the operation of FIO’s two research vessels, the R/V Weatherbird II and the R/V Hogarth. The research vessels spend an average of 200 days at sea, mostly in the Gulf of Mexico, to achieve the research and educational goals of its users.

Lewis joined FIO in 2022 and came from the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences where he served as Marine Superintendent of the Marine Operations Department for over 6 years, operating the R/V Atlantic Explorer. He earned his bachelor’s degree in maritime transportation from the United States Merchant Marine Academy and has a US Coast Guard Master’s License.
